Child Punk Zombie Costume: The Children Take Over
Evan looked out of the thick curtains at the kid in the child punk zombie costume and shivered. Last week the child next door now suddenly he was a mortal enemy.
Maria walked up behind him and peeked out of the curtains seeming to know exactly what he was thinking. He had the spear gun in his hand and at the ready but he really didn’t want to kill the next door neighbor’s child.
Not that he was a person anymore. The change seemed to take place at midnight on Halloween night a week ago. One minute there were children laughing in the streets at the town Halloween festival the next minute they were all ravenous and out for blood. There were children in child punk zombie costumes all over the town and they were attacking every adult they found.
Evan wanted to scream at the kid watching his house to move on but didn’t. What good would it do? He had been standing in the thick pea soup like fog for hours just watching their house. Waiting on them to come outside. Waiting on them to make a mistake so that he could attack.
There was not a single child or teenager in this town that wasn’t wearing a child punk zombie costume now and they were all out for blood. Even his own little sister was out there somewhere among the masses maiming and doing God knows what else to innocent adults.
Evan had racked his brain to try and figure out where this had come from. What happened to the children on Halloween night and how could they fix it. They couldn’t go get help because the way out of town was blocked and they didn’t want to kill any more of them than they had to.
As a matter of fact Evan didn’t know if he could. He was a youth minister. How could he take the lives of the young people he had sworn to protect? He took a drink of his coffee and went back to the window. The boy was still standing there. The only reason you could see him was the way the child punk zombie costume looked. It seemed to consist of a white mask with spiky hair sticking out of the top, a ragged leather jacket and strange looking gloves.
Evan wasn’t sure if the face was real or if the chest of the boy had grown to be that way but both was truly frightening to look at. The boy threw back his head suddenly and emitted a howl that shook the rafters of the old house Evan and Maria were living in. Suddenly there were at least 50 of the zombie children on the road in front of their property. They all were wearing the same costume and all had blood dripping down their faces and chest.
Evan shuddered again as they started up the sidewalk toward the front door. He hated to do it but it looked like he was going to have to shoot some of the teens in the child punk zombie costumes.
