Serena and the Zombie Chronicles

The Zombie ChroniclesSerena had only been reading the Zombie Chronicles for about a month but as Halloween slowly approached she wasn’t at all sure that she wanted to join in with the town’s local teens in the annual game.

Not only did it seem like a lot of work but there was something really creepy about dressing up in zombie costumes and running through the cold dank graveyard at night.

Not to mention that it was always pitch dark in there and from what the book said you could only have a single flashlight to guide your way.

On the other hand she really wanted to fit in with the teens of Whispering Falls and this was a big thing to them. As a matter of fact the whole town was based on ghosts and legends. It was like living in Halloween all year round. Her parents of course loved it as they had grown up here.

They moved away as teens often do because it was a very small town and they wanted to do better. They had her older brother and then her and moved back because they wanted their children to experience the country life. They always talked about the Zombie Chronicles when it got close to Halloween and were so excited that Serena had been invited to join this year as it was an elite group.

From what she had heard there would be all manner of zombie costumes there. Her semi best friend was going as a rocked out zombie tween while her boyfriend was going as a zombie hunter. They too were very excited about the Zombie Chronicles games as this was their first time being invited.

The games were for teens 14-18 and they had all just hit that mark. What really had Serena freaked out was the fact, well a couple of facts really, that there were always 13 members of the Zombie Chronicles games and every one of them including her were born on October 31 which was of course All Hallows Eve. That was creepy because all of their mothers, which had also grown up here, were born on All Hallows Eve also.

Serena shrugged and through the guide with the directions and rules to the game on the bed side table and walked to the window looking out at the bleak October landscape. She had to admit she loved the little town but it was nothing like sunny Florida.

She turned away from the window and strolled slowly over to the closet to look at the zombie prom queen costume she was wearing. It was elaborate and very creepy. It consisted of a floor length black and white tattered ball gown, a tiara and a sash showing that she was the true zombie prom queen. There was on girl that Serena knew that was going as an undead teacher’s pet and another as a bloody nurse zombie.

It should be quite a night Serena thought to herself as she closed the closet door and headed downstairs for dinner still not sure she wanted to play the Zombie Chronicles this Halloween.
